Podemos Cieza was present at the Day Against Violence against Women (26/11/2018)

Last weekend, Podemos Cieza was present at the events held to coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, in addition to supporting the activities carried out by various associations and local institutions in our city.

On Saturday 24 we went to the street (Esquina del Convento) putting a table and several messages to show our rejection and our proposals to the residents of Cieza regarding this scourge of "macho terrorism", with a clear message: Vivas y Libres.

This is how we want women from Podemos, without any nuance or double intention, because we know that Machismo kills.

And on Sunday 25 we joined the demonstration held in the streets of Cieza, and we adhered to the manifesto that was read at the end, as well as the various actions that were carried out.

Already in the defense of the motion of censure in which we managed to remove the government to the PP, our deputy for We Irene Montero, spurred the Popular Party with the deaf cry of the feminist movement crystallized in that "we do not want one less, we want us alive because they are assassinating us every day "and that is that the commitment our political force of change is not simply aesthetic, but is part of a feminist way of life and this is clearly staged in the agreement of General State Budgets, providing more competitions to the city councils in the fight against sexist violence and in the matter of equality, and giving more budget that fight.

From Podemos Cieza we are glad that the hegemony of the feminist movement in the streets and the political organization of women is bearing fruit, although there is still much to be done.

The Sexual Freedom Law will allow sexual consent to be placed at the center of relations and to avoid that, within the legal system, violations like La Manada are allowed again.

Where we govern, as in the government of Manuela Carmena, the budget destined to combat sexist violence has been increased by 27%, while the Community of Madrid (of the PP) has reduced it by 45%.

In the Regional Assembly of Murcia the regional government of the PP wants to sign a Pact against Gender Violence, which Podemos will not sign (nor the PSOE), because it is a step back in the rights of women.

We saw in the demonstration ciezana some members of the Popular Party or Citizens, however, after these acts, they will return to their reality, in which, the violence exercised against women will not matter much, and it is not opinion, it is reality because There is more to see how they behaved when they had the majority of blockade in Parliament, not financially endowing the so-called Pact against Gender Violence that, subsequently, by the enormous strength of 8M women, had to improve.

And is that, although it is true that today we have improved something compared to the Popular Party government that in 2012 reduced the number of actions for comprehensive prevention against gender violence by 21.1%, and in 2015 manipulated the data about gender violence in an electoral video, and in 2017, denied in the Senate, free legal and psychological assistance to women victims of sexist violence, and blocked the State Pact with its faithful crutch, Citizens, the road is still long and slow

However, we are convinced that with the strength of Podemos and the other forces of change, we will achieve a hopeful future for women.

We believe from Podemos Cieza that women are willing to conquer the future, a violet future where we can live free, equal and safe, and in which feminism is not just a quota.

Without feminism, there is no democracy.

Yes you can!
