IU-Greens Cieza expresses its full support for the continuation of adult centers of Murcia (10/03/2016)

Over the past few days they have triggered all the alarms in adult centers in the region of Murcia, as a result of the leak to the press of a document-report entitled "Plan of reorganization of Continuing Education," whose existence they had no knowledge or directors adult centers in the region or the teaching unions.

According to this Plan, whose official purpose would be to "improve lifelong learning sector," only adult subsist five centers as such, and only in municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.

In others, the teachings of adults would be included in secondary schools, but with a strong reduction programs offered in towns of less than 15,000 inhabitants and the disappearance below 8000, which would have a significant impact in terms suppression of faculty, facilities and closing displaced centers and classrooms.

IU-Greens Cieza, to the alarm and widespread indignation among those working in adult education, and since Cieza heads a local adult education center with three displaced headquarters (in Abarán, Blanca and Archena), wanted to step out for, in the words of Pablo Garcia, "express full support for the continuation of adult centers in the region of Murcia in the current conditions".

Since IU is understood that it is not an "improvement" what is sought but saving money, even at the cost of hitting a sector with an invaluable role, and regardless "precisely continuing education covers largely deficits of a regulated education that continue to show excessive numbers of school failure. "

The profitability of a service such as adult education, according to Pablo Garcia, "can not be measured in economic terms, but in terms of social inclusion, equal opportunities and educational compensation; just the opposite posed a document is deleted any possible teaching in municipalities with fewer than 8,000 inhabitants, precisely where there are fewer opportunities for training ".

The CEA "Vega Alta" of Cieza would be fully affected by this cut projected, "it would disappear as such and programs be maintained would depend on an institute of the town, the local entity dismember and classroom Blanca leave working; it is understandable, therefore, the intense concern that the leak of the report has generated among users and teachers at the school ".

The reaction of protest has been unanimous in the region, and the directors of the centers, with full unity, on Wednesday appeared at Murcia to express their astonishment and displeasure at a planning report gestated behind.

"Given the situation created, the Ministry has said that is not final and that everything is under consideration, but the content of the report is significant and shows some intentions that are now exposed, showing little if not no social concern political leaders of the PP in Murcia ".

Finally, Pablo García encourages all ciezana society "to manifest so unanimous need for the adult center of Cieza, along with the rest of the centers of the region, continue to provide its services and offering ciezana society with a educational compensation space where everyone can find a second chance, regardless of age, to reorient its existence positively on the basis of lifelong learning ".
