The Civil Guard detains two minors in Seville for blackmailing a girl with sexually transmitted files (18/05/2017)

The arrested persons are attributed the presumed authorship of crime against the freedom and sexual indemnity to minors of 16 years

They managed to deceive the minor to be recorded naked in exchange for providing the phone of a well-known singer

The agents have seized the phone allegedly used to commit the crime

The Guardia Civil has carried out the operation 'ALBAR', an investigation aimed at clarifying a series of coercions to a minor in Cieza (Murcia) with a video of intimate content, which has resulted in the location and detention of two minors in Sevilla, as suspected perpetrators of sexual abuse.

The operation began after the complaint filed before an Office of Attention Citizen of the Benemérita in which alleged alleged blackmail to a minor through a known Internet application.

Those arrested now managed to deceive a minor in Cieza (Murcia) to record a naked video and send it.

In exchange for the intimate content file they would give you the phone number of a well-known singer.

The minor, once recorded and sent the video, received a series of threats that if he did not send new videos or photographs, it would be published in social networks.

The minors came to modify their profile of a known messaging application by putting a photograph of the singer to make the child believe that the phone obtained was the same.

Taking advantage of the fact that the minor kept the contact began to require new videos and photographs with the threat of broadcasting the video through social networks.

The Guardia Civil, after a series of research of a technological nature, identified two children, neighbors of Seville, who allegedly were behind the authorship of the facts investigated.

Once obtained all the necessary indications, the investigators have located the two suspects, who have been arrested as suspected perpetrators of the crime against sexual freedom and indemnity to children under 16, in the form of abuse and harassment through Internet or telephone.

During the arrests, the agents have seized a telephone terminal allegedly used to commit the crime.

The arrested, the effects seized and the diligences instructed have been made available to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office of Seville.

recommendations

The Civil Guard, within the framework of the preventive actions set forth in the 'Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Safety in Educational Centers and their Environments', has been carrying out a series of training actions, including talks on new Technologies or the risks derived from an improper use of the Internet, addressed to schoolchildren, teachers and AMPA's, offering, among others, the following tips:

Do not disclose personal data to third parties.

If done, do it as safely as possible in a known environment.

Once you "hang" a photograph, video or a simple information, the control over it is lost.

Do not accept or add unknown contacts.

Do not provide passwords;

The one who is a friend today may not be tomorrow.

Do not answer emails from strangers.

If you use programs to share music, movies, etc., keep in mind that the folders used by the program are available to millions of users.

Control who can see your profile and post on your wall.

Customize your privacy settings: "just my friends".

In short, do not do on the internet what you would not do in real life.

Internet usage tips

On the Internet we must use logic and common sense, as we would in real life.

The consequences of a bad use of the network go beyond the virtual plane, and can generate serious consequences.

On the Internet, not everyone is who they say they are.

Sometimes they use techniques, social engineering, among others, to obtain our most precious treasure, our privacy and personal data.

In the computers connected to the Internet we must have updated not only the operating systems, antivirus and firewalls, also all the programs that are used in the network, browsers, plugins (java), etc.

With this we will give solution to the vulnerabilities that appear.

Remember that the best antivirus is behind our keyboard, we ourselves are our worst vulnerability, but also our best antivirus.

Not only do we have to protect our equipment, we must also protect our WiFi network to prevent unauthorized access to it and thus avoid possible criminal activities from our connection.

Remember that if they access our Wi-Fi network, we not only lose speed in the connection, but can easily access our equipment.

For all the services that need it, we will use robust passwords (more than 8 alphanumeric characters combined with some symbol).

Easy to remember for us but impossible to deduct for the cybercriminal.

Avoid using the same for all our accounts, and renew them from time to time.

We must protect our privacy in the network, avoiding making public unnecessary data, that can harm us now or in the future.

In our transactions and purchases through the network we will be cautious to make them from secure sites, avoiding trap ads.

As for transactions with our bank, we will always do so from a secure connection (https), being suspicious of any communication that reaches us by email (SPAM and PHISHING).

We will pay attention to the downloads we make, always making them from the official websites of the products we need, which will avoid being infected with malware camouflaged in fake antivirus (rogues) or our team is trojanized with any kind of malware (zombie) .

We will also browse trusted websites to avoid unwanted infections (Ransomware Police Virus).

We will promote good practices in the network towards minors by educating them and informing them of the dangers that can be found in the network, urging them to be able to count on their family in the event of the slightest problem.

Remember that the internet is not just the PC: we must take the same precautions from tablets and smartphones.
