Roundtable "The Legacy of May 68" at the Atalaya Club (29/05/2018)

May 68 belongs to the imagination of our time as one of the events that most strongly expressed the desire for freedom and social change in the second half of the twentieth century.

A series of circumstances converge at a particular moment in the Paris of 1968, giving rise to an explosive movement in which students, intellectuals, workers share the struggle against institutions, the University in the first place, and everything that represented the forms of authoritarianism .

This year, on its 50th anniversary, it is necessary to return to the history of those events and look at them with the critical intention of an understanding on the horizon of other problems, of other societies such as ours.

Today Tuesday, at 8:00 pm there will be a round table entitled "The Legacy of May '68" in which Francisco Jarauta (philosopher), Pedro Costa Morata (sociologist), Teresa Vicente (jurist), Alejandro García (historian) will intervene. that will moderate the historian Antonio Fernández.

The half century since the revolt of May '68 already offers a good perspective to review in cold the meaning of that historical fact.

We must not forget that these are years in which the international political agenda was marked by events that occupied the attention of public opinion with great tension.
