Podemos Cieza: "School dropout shows the failure of the regional government with the future of this Region" (20/02/2019)

From Podemos Cieza "we find it intolerable and at the same time symptomatic of the failure of the Regional Government, and more specifically of the Minister of Education, since 1 out of every 4 young people in the Region abandon the studies that are considered basic to have a minimum the time to enter the labor market as when developing in the social field ".

Cieza is no stranger to this problem.

Around 15% of students enrolled in Cieza do not finish their basic studies, which translates into a high percentage of people with serious difficulties in accessing the labor market.

This, together with job insecurity, becomes an entrenched problem of both work and personal unemployment and instability.

From Podemos Cieza we are clear that a well-formed society, prepared for the challenges ahead, is the germ of the change of social and productive model that Spain needs.

A Spain, a Region of Murcia and a city like Cieza that looks to the future, can not have an obsolete and unsuccessful educational system, which is unable to solve the problem of school dropout.

From Podemos Cieza we would like to remember that in October of this school year, from the parliamentary group of Podemos, information was requested from the Ministry of Education about the data on compulsory school failure by localities and if these were specified in public, private and arranged.

To this question, we obtained the "unusual and opaque response from the Education Counselor who told us that offering data by localities or centers presented a stigmatization of those places where it was taking place, so the Counselor did not respond to the information required, and now we understand why, "since" with these data a political leader who is dedicated to the improvement and development of Education, would have to seriously question what is doing with the future of our youth and therefore with the Region , and assume their failure in the face of the results of their nefarious educational policies. "

In the Region of Murcia "not only are we in the queue of the whole country in education, but we are also at the European level behind Malta and Romania," in a Region "where the PP has destroyed public education. in the concerted private sector, the number of public centers continues to grow year after year, without computers, without teachers, without resources, without host classrooms, without dining rooms, without air conditioning and without transportation ".

In the same way we want to emphasize that we can continue working to combat school failure, and that is achieved with resources in the classroom, eliminating cuts, with more specialist teachers, with attention to disadvantaged groups that require educational compensation and inclusion policies , with support to the teaching teams, more and better teachers, that is "putting public education in the position it deserves, since it is a fundamental right, not a piece with which to market".
