Water is a fundamental right, and as such, we believe that it must be publicly managed to guarantee quality and universal access to this fundamental resource.

Last Friday, March 22, World Water Day was celebrated.

From Podemos Cieza we want to take the opportunity to claim water supply as a fundamental right and not as a lucrative business.

In recent years, the neoliberal belief that "private management is always better than public management" has been promoted, as well as creating an adequate legislative framework to be able to carry out the privatization of strategic sectors.

We are aware of the difficulty of recovering a service that the laws passed by the Popular Party of Mariano Rajoy have shielded in favor of private companies.

But this legislature is convinced that it will be the consolidation of change and writing history in favor of the people and not the business oligarchy that for years has been benefiting from the different central governments.

From Podemos, at the national level, a legislative framework will be promoted that will allow local councils to recover basic and first-necessity services such as water.

The conditions of the privatizations, the periods of more than 30 years (in Cieza until 2043) of the contracts, the lack of municipal resources, the austerity programs and the reform of the local administration imposed by the central government, make the recovery process of public water management;

but from Podemos Cieza we firmly believe that with struggle, determination and information to the citizenship, it will be the neighbors themselves who will carry out these remunicipalization processes.

We find it shameful that a basic right is monopolized by two companies: Aguas de Barcelona and Aqualia control 87% of the national water.

That is why we will fight to turn the business of a few into a true right for all.
