The Local Council for Sports and Physical Activity is a consultative and participatory body in decision-making that affects the sport of the city, which began in 2015.

In the opinion of the councilor of the branch, Carlos Semitiel, after the baggage of these 4 years, "we consider it necessary to move forward and take another step towards that participation, in order to adapt it to the current situation of sport in the municipality, improving and expanding the representation, thus accommodating those fields or sports disciplines that were not represented. "

In the proposal presented at the November plenary session, a series of new features that are considered necessary for a "fairer and broader representation in this body" were added to the existing representatives.

"We believe it is necessary," explains Semitiel, "to give voice and vote to women's sport, which is a reality that is increasingly relevant and we understand that it must be made visible. In addition, with this modification, we open the council to other sports disciplines than in recent times have increased the number of users, as is the case of those clubs or associations related to sports-nature, as well as we want to accommodate those non-federated or amateur athletes who develop their sports activity in municipal sports facilities. , we also want to have the opinion of those athletes related to sport at school age, not only with the opinion and vote of a teacher or teacher related to the subject of Physical Education, but also with the representation of a student who is studying high school and a representative of the Local Council for Children and Adolescents ".

Another of the new objectives is to have the experience of three athletes who have participated in national or international competitions, with a federated or non-federated athlete from the town of more than 50 years with a long sports career and, finally, position that we want to strengthen the relationship between sport and health, we will have representatives from the field of sports medicine and sports-focused physiotherapy.
