María José Cárceles inaugurates "The Blue Cotton Prison" at the Siyâsa Museum (24/11/2019)

The new artistic proposal of the Department of Museums belongs to a contemporary multidisciplinary artist who is a director, producer and screenwriter, journalist, writer and researcher of numerous subjects exposed from artistic photography in its various formats and styles

Now Cárceles investigates in the context that involves the technique and theory related to post-photography, making a special immersion in the theories of Joan Fontcuberta.

Proof of this is the exhibition that opens this Friday, at 8:00 p.m., in the San Sebastián street museum.

The Siyâsa Museum hosts this Friday the opening of the exhibition of the 'Blue cotton jail', by Murcia artist María José Cárceles, whose work is considered post-conceptual.

And it deals with social issues and investigates them (women with burqa, giraffe women, proactive women, resilient women) and enters almost unexplored worlds, such as Street Art (fifteen-year research that remains open) with subsequent photographic exhibitions that show a reality of the history of graffiti art from its genesis to the present.

Another research topic is Mail Art, an exchange movement that focuses the artist from the point of view of post-photography and the possibility of completing it in three dimensions in symbiosis with reddy-made.

It covers many other subjects, such as: homeless, tattooed, nature, experimentation, etc.

In their exhibitions, attendees are invited to stimulate their senses and experience sensations beyond what they see, it is always the audience who gives them an infinite extension from their eyes and their individual reflection.

These ephemeral concepts make the work continue to live under the different contexts that arise from the actors who contemplate and analyze it.

Umberto Eco, in his Opera Aperta, expresses that every work has to be open for the public, in its cognitive process, to complete it with its active, subjective and participatory reception.

'The prison of blue cotton' will be an experience that serves to investigate the importance of the use of the arts as a possible dynamic tool of society and the construction of sensitivities with greater or lesser intensity, depending on the country, and the different forms of performance in different social scenarios in which various creative strategies that promote social awareness among different actors and areas will be required, to build societies that respect human rights, free and that dignify people, positive changes in society
