The march of November 25 to claim the elimination of violence against women toured the central streets of the city center of Cieza on Monday night headed by a large banner with the slogan 'Our municipality against gender violence' and with the assistance of hundreds of cezanos among which were members of the municipal government, responsible for various political formations and representatives of local groups of various kinds.
The demonstration, which ran with total normality to the sound of chanted slogans against sexist violence by groups of participants, was convened by the Department of Women and Equality and was the culmination of several weeks of activities and actions that have included self-defense courses for women, as well as information and awareness campaigns in local media and educational centers.
The woman's councilor, Melba Miñano, wanted to have a special impact on the latter issue, stressing that "it is essential that we begin to tackle this type of violence from the base, when people are still young, information, awareness and raising awareness among children and adolescents on this issue is vital to educate citizens free of violence when they are adults, hence it is particularly important to work for it in the educational centers of the municipality and from the City Council we have turned to this goal. "
The entourage, formed by hundreds of people, departed from Jiménez Castellanos avenue, later touring the avenue of Italy, Gran Vía, Paseo and, finally, leading to Plaza de España, where the event concluded with a floral offering to the monument in memory of the victims of gender violence, reading a manifesto and a poetry recital by the group La Sierpe and Laúd.
