Sports celebrates 'Playing athletics' to promote sports between schools (29/01/2020)

Among the novelties that the Sports Service had planned for this 2019-2020 course, was the realization of the 'Playing athletics' test in male and female juvenile category.

The competition took place on Tuesday, January 28 in the pavilion 'Juan José Angosto', with the participation of six of the local schools, CEIP Cristo del Consuelo, Miguel de Cervantes School, CEIP San José Obrero, Jaime Balmes School, CEIP Gerónimo Belda and CEIP Antonio Buitrago.

CEIP Gerónimo Belda in the women's category and Jaime Balmes School in the men's category were the winners of the competition.

But regardless of the result, the highlight was the success of this test, "without a doubt thanks to the involvement of both students and teachers in it."

Throughout the morning there was a real sport party in which, at all times, the main protagonist was the sportsmanship of all participating centers.

The tests that were played were 10 x 10m race, Foam javelin throw, two jumps in a row together, Medicine ball throwing, side jumps with obstacle and 5x1 relay.

The two winning schools will represent the town in the regional final of this discipline on February 19.

"From the Sports Service we want to thank once again the exemplary behavior of all participants in this test."

For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Carlos Semitiel, said that "one of the objectives of the Department in this new stage is to promote sports from an educational aspect to enhance the importance of it, from joint participation and fun as keys, highlighting the importance of its practice and its benefits.
