Ãlvaro Peña, abstraction at its maximum and personal expression (23/02/2020)

Within the Flowering tourism project, the other common thread these days at the Siyâsa Museum is Álvaro Peña, one of the really important Murcian painters in the current artistic scene and whose vision is always a cure for wounded sensitivities and an update for who forget that abstract expressionism is a continuum always alive.

There must be few more beautiful things in life than on a Saturday morning, in a spring February, watching the exhibition 'The flowers of good' and listening to 'Black orpheus',' All of me 'and Autum leaves', an elegant interpretation in direct by the saxophonist Ezequiel Marín and the pianist Cristina Pons.

In the care of Pedro López, a great specialist and friend of the painter, the selection and assembly of Álvaro Peña (Murcia, 1968) in the Siyâsa Museum - composed of 30 works, 23 sketches and a showcase with artist books - is not only exemplary , look where you look, but that is why the curator of the exhibition 'The flowers of good' rediscovers the public of the celestial public to the author of the New York Summit promotional poster, which is thus revalidated as one of the best artists of Murcia moment.

The current situation is not exactly wrong when it comes to temporary exhibitions on the occasion of the Floración tourism project.

It is difficult to summarize the thousand wonders now exposed until May 3, but the mural 'Retablo de San Sebastián' stands out, fragmented into twelve works, among other very different pieces, which forms an impressive set, an essential visit.

The exciting beauty of some of these compositions, such as 'Between heaven and reality', 'Secret love' or 'Identity seekers', have a striking effect on the viewer.

The exhibition continues until it shows the extraordinary 'Magnetic Fields', but not before surprising with several paintings called' Between spring paripés', Oriental happiness', 'The space of the soul' and 'The riddle hypothesis'.

It is not possible to stop highlighting the unique interpretation with which this admirable collection culminates, the so-called 'Peach of Cieza', which synthesizes the best qualities of this artist who has stood out in his current pictorial stage for his abstract expressionism.

Behind are many years of work in watercolor, illustration and comic.

In these and other watercolors, acrylics and inks is the refined sensibility of a master of contemporary art.

"Let no one expect this modern painter to attract with classic images of conventional landscapes in bloom," describes the prologue of the catalog that the curator of the exhibition uses to warn the public.

The imbalance of shapes, the vivid colors, the images that simulate appearances and other qualifications with which López has given the artist when defining his painting are constructed as a weaver would do that places thread by thread, brushstroke by brushstroke, with patience, Colors on the canvas.

However, beauty is no longer as important to Peña, the relevant thing is the meaning of the work.

In his words, "it is something that I have discovered over time."

And is that it no longer seeks only the aesthetic delight.

This time it has been inspired by flowering, turned into a sensitive metaphor.

"It is a motive for tracing sharp images, loaded with chromatic force, where the intensity of feelings and sensations is reflected."

The artist ends up projecting his personality at work, in an organic way, and the work itself is a reflection of that personality.

This is how the youngest member of the Royal Academy of Alfonso X the Wise sees his relationship with 'Las flores del bien', his latest artistic proposal with which he continues to enjoy and learn.

"Every new job I want to bring something new and transmit to the viewer, something that the first thing that I should fascinate is myself. I look for each new proposal to be the most satisfactory for me and for the viewer who contemplates it."

At first, the illusion arises from the mere fact of seeing how the collection materializes.

In love with painting, he never loses his ability to adapt and keep growing, taking into account the personal situation of each moment.

A legitimate perfection and, on many occasions, even at your fingertips.
