| The publication in the Official State Gazette is the previous step to its final approval in the European Commission | The joint work of the municipal government and the agricultural sector to obtain the quality seal begins to bear fruit.The BOE of this Tuesday, June 9, published the announcement of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia by which the application and registration in the Community Registry of the Protected Geographical Indication "Peach of Cieza", thus fulfilling one of the last formalities regulated in the procedure for its processing.The application has passed the mandatory examination process, so the publication of the specification and the single document are now being carried out for a period of two months, thus opening the opposition procedure.This is great news for the municipality of Cieza and particularly for the agricultural sector, which is thus rewarded for the effort and work carried out by farmers and cooperatives, under the tutelage and decisive drive of the municipal government, which together have carried out a work commendable that it has already begun to bear fruit.Municipal sources indicate that "one of the main challenges set by the municipal government team in the area of ??agriculture led by Antonio Moya, with the support of the Regional Assembly, which in October 2018 unanimously approved, is thus fulfilled of all the political groups the motion promoted by the mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, and his government team and which was defended in the plenary session of the Assembly by the socialist deputy Jesús Navarro, after maintaining a permanent dialogue with the farmers of the area and decidedly bet on this product ".In this way, the path towards the achievement of the long-awaited Protected Geographical Indication for the Cieza peach is already in its final proceedings, which will culminate in the European Commission after overcoming national authorities.The dialogue with the representatives of the agrarian organizations and cooperatives of the municipality has been constant throughout this process, holding meetings in which the unequivocal support for the achievement of this quality seal has been shown at all times, also counting on the support of the national deputies of the Region of Murcia, "among which the number one by the PSOE has had a prominent role in the lists to Congress and current Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing of Spain, Pedro Saura, who promised since he took office to support and accelerate its processing, "said the aforementioned sources.The councilor for agriculture has expressed his satisfaction after finally seeing published in the BOE the file in which the municipal government has been involved along with the entire agricultural sector, "to which he has wanted to acknowledge his work for many years for persisting in quality of our product in spite of the ups and downs that they have been suffering, and that once the process has been completed they will see that they correspond.

" At the same time, he thanked all those who have collaborated, and especially the technicians from the Department of the Ministry of Agriculture in charge of monitoring, analyzing and evaluating these types of files, "for their commitment, rigorous work, effort and dedication, to to get this far.

"This recognition, Moya concluded, "will allow us to have an identification that will guarantee the uniqueness of our peach and guarantee its quality throughout the world, which will undoubtedly be positively reflected in its marketing and in better prices for our farmers."
