Institutional meeting between the socialist spokesman in the Assembly Diego Conesa and the mayor (01/09/2020)

Conesa asked the regional government this Monday in Cieza to hire 1,500 teachers to lower the ratio of students, take advantage of the offer of spaces for classrooms formulated by the town councils and reinforce the medical and medical staff of Primary Care. The PSRM general secretary visited CIJOE, together with councilor Pascual Lucas, at the facilities of the old municipal market and the 'co-working' space set up at INFOEM.

He was also interested in the situation of the municipality in the face of the pandemic, with the intention of knowing first-hand the epidemiological situation in the town, which he considered "good, since active cases are below the average," compared to other municipalities in the Region.

He also analyzed the problems posed by the start of the school year with the threat of the outbreaks of the coronavirus, together with the Ciezan mayor. The parliamentary spokesman and general secretary of the Socialist Party of the Region of Murcia, Diego Conesa, claimed the hiring of 1,500 teachers at a rate of 57 million euros to reduce the ratio of students as a preventive measure against Covid. He insisted on the need to delay the start of the school year throughout the Autonomous Community in order to hire more teachers and to adapt the spaces offered by the municipalities with a view to expanding the number of classrooms in educational centers.

The socialist parliamentarian also requested the hiring of more health personnel to reinforce the Primary Care service throughout the Region. In his opinion, "the starting point to guarantee a minimum of educational equity and, above all, health security is the hiring of more teachers to reduce the ratios.

The PSOE made a proposal in July in which we proposed the hiring of 1,500 teachers.

Other CCAA have done their homework and are going to hire more teachers, as is the case of Castilla-La Mancha with 2,000, the Valencian Community with 4,500 and Madrid with 11,000.

This cannot be.

This educational measure is the greatest irresponsibility that This Murcian government has carried out and it is going to cause serious educational and social consequences.

Furthermore, we have not yet denounced it, but those 300 more teachers that were recently announced to reach 800 new hires are a verbal commitment that they have assumed with education.

concerted. We are going to control the money that the Government of Spain has given to the Autonomous Community and to continue demanding that more teachers be hired to reverse this historical error.

The Minister of Education has not met with the Federation of Municipalities, only with the subsidized centers and with the mayors of the Popular Party.
