| The garbage and large-volume objects collection service carried out 3,211 door-to-door services in 2019 | More than 2,000 collection services had no prior appointment, this means that neighbors incorrectly deposited their waste on the street.The Cieza City Council continues to fight against the large amount of high volume waste that Cieza citizens generate in their day to day.

The Consistory, through the Department of Circular Economy, launched a major crash plan a year ago to improve the collection service, as well as respond to the volume of belongings, and selective collection (packaging and cardboard).For this, the service was reinforced, taking to the municipal plenary session the extension of the contract with the Urban Environment company, having this a cost of 136,000 euros more per year.Currently, there are hundreds of furniture and fixture collection services that are carried out per month, with door-to-door, the setting up of contribution points, mobile eco-park and the extension of the Eco-park hours until Saturday noon.And the fact is that the data provided by the concession company speak for themselves.

Last year a total of 12,490 kg of furniture and fixtures were collected, three times more than the previous year.This amount of large-volume objects were collected through 3,211 services, of which 2,002 did not have a prior appointment, representing 62.35%, this being the main cause of the current cleaning situation in Cieza, say the aforementioned sources.This furniture has to be located in advance before being collected, so it must be taken into account that the arranged appointments are attended first, so that these incorrectly deposited furniture and belongings can remain several days on the public road, while those that They have an appointment only a few hours.Household collection services have been growing exponentially in recent years.

In 2016, 1,179 services were performed, in 2017 1,763, in 2018 2,078 services and in 2019 the 3,211 services mentioned above.For its part, the City Council, in addition to reinforcing the service with human resources and, therefore, economic, or awareness campaigns, as well as the methods for disposing of belongings, has already requested the Government Delegation to install cameras to the vigilance and control of civic actions by citizens, as well as the dedication of a Local Police patrol for the processing of fines for non-compliance with the municipal ordinance.
