City Council and AECC join forces in solidarity on World Breast Cancer Day (17/10/2020)

"May your Life turn pink.

For all those fighters.

Bloom of Cieza." Under this motto, the City Council of Cieza, through the Department of Social Policy and Tourism, led by Melba Miñano and Antonio Moya, respectively, offers its most supportive face with women suffering from breast cancer on the occasion of the celebration of the Day Worldwide of this disease this Monday, October 19.The idea is, by way of synesthesia, to blend the color of the Bloom of Cieza, which so well promotes the tourist benefits of the municipality, with the chromatic emblem of this day that expresses a message of support to the women affected.

To this end, the City Council has produced posters with a large pink ribbon that will be distributed throughout the city to express municipal support for wives, sisters, grandmothers, who suffer from this disease.

Similarly, different light bulbs of the same color tone have been installed that will illuminate urban spaces and buildings in the urban area at night; specifically, the Wall, the City Hall, the Municipal Library, the Old Courts building, the San Juan Bosco fountain and the San Bartolomé hermitage.Parallel to these initiatives, the local board of the Spanish Association against Cancer has announced that, on Monday morning, it will install an information booth at the Corner of the Convent to raise awareness among citizens about breast cancer.

The stand will also serve so that visitors can pick up their pink bow and wear it on their clothes as a gesture of solidarity, as well as acquire various 'merchandising' products that the AECC produces in Cieza to raise funds that allow deepening the lines of medical research and science that help fight this disease. On October 19, World Day to Fight Breast Cancer is celebrated as a reminder of the commitment of the whole of society in the fight against this disease.

Breast cancer is the most common tumor in Western women.

In Spain, around 33,307 new breast cancers are diagnosed per year (Data on breast cancer in Spain 2019).The international day of breast cancer seeks to raise awareness in society of the importance of research and early diagnosis of this disease.

For all these reasons, the AECC has a series of services and programs for the comprehensive care of people with breast cancer: information, because breast cancer is a serious disease, but it can be cured if it is detected early and the lack Information is the main source of fear and anxiety; support and accompaniment with psychological care and social care with advice on aesthetic care, and research, because it is the only thing that will cure breast cancer in the long term.
