Symbolic concentration of the platforms against the Macrofarms (22/10/2020)

| On the occasion of the Day of Environmental Protection | Last Sunday 18, the platforms of the towns Yecla, Jumilla, Cieza and Pozuelo concentrated in different places where large pig farms are projected to publicly show their rejection. Jumilla, which was still in phase 1 relaxed, could not be the center of a large demonstration that was being orchestrated between the towns of Cieza, Pozuelo, Yecla and Jumilla itself.

Finally, the components of the platform Save Our Earth, No to the Macrofarms! Decided to carry out the symbolic reading of a manifesto on the occasion of the World Day for the Protection of the Environment. Six components of the platform traveled to the Cañada del Judío, in the vicinity where the Macrogranja is expected to be built, in order, as happened in neighboring towns, to read the manifesto. On this very important day, they wanted to remember the importance of taking care of our environment and, although in times of Covid-19, they could not express themselves jointly, the concern and rejection of the creation of macro-farms in our territory became clear. In the same way, fifty residents of Cieza from the platform Let's save our land- Cieza No to the macro farms! they concentrated on the place "Casa de las Monjas" to show their rejection towards the pig farms projected in their fields.

At midmorning they left in a caravan to a farm in the Sierra de Ascoy where the installation of one of these farms is planned, a farm located near the territorial limit with Jumilla. Among the attendees there was a mixture between restlessness and anger, but with a combative spirit and with the desire to fight.

There, as planned, a manifesto was read, a declaration of intent shared with the peoples of Jumilla, Yecla and Pozuelo who together work in defense of their territories. On the other hand, the Citizen Platform Salvemos el Arabí y Comarca, of Yecla, read the manifesto in the emblematic Monte Arabí, right at the foot of the illegal clearing that Cefusa-ElPozo undertook in 2017, when it began the works to build numerous industrial facilities with a capacity for 26,000 pigs.

From there, several members of the Yeclana platform, which in 2017 mobilized 15,000 people in a historic demonstration, have once again expressed their total opposition to this polluting industry and have joined the rest of the neighboring platforms, with the firm conviction to continue increasing the scope and dissemination that is being made of the defense of the territory. In the municipality of Pozuelo, with an increasingly aging population of 300 and where there are fewer and fewer children in their school, permits continue to be requested and intensive livestock farms created.

There, several members of its platform Pozuelo ¡No a las macrogranjas !, read the manifesto, trying to make their neighbors see that this type of activity can only create ruin and depopulation. Manifest: The list of demands that the four platforms wanted to make known on World Nature Protection Day would be long since, once again, companies with strong environmental impact and poor economic impact that, although they have great weight in our region, They want to settle on our lands, pollute our waters, our crops, devalue our homes and a long etcetera, settling in little by little and without making noise.

Actions, all of them, that directly influence our well-being and that of future generations. For all these reasons, from the Salvemos el Arabí and Comarca Platforms in Yecla, Let's Save Our Land, No to the Macrogranjas! In Jumilla and Cieza, No to the Macrogranja in Pozuelo and Argamasón, they wanted to vindicate constructive policies with the Environment and the outright refusal to install intensive livestock in their territories, betting on a sustainable model of our traditional livestock, respectful of the environment. To finish, they gave voice to the words that the former president of Argentina, General Juan Domingo Perón, pronounced in a speech in Madrid in 1972, the year in which this day begins: "The time has come for all the peoples and governments of the world to become aware of the suicide march that humanity has undertaken through the pollution of the environment and the biosphere, the waste of natural resources, the unbridled growth of the population and the overestimation of technology.

It is necessary to immediately reverse the direction of this march, through joint international action.

" No to macro farms.

Not in your town, not in mine.
