"The most social General State Budgets at the most critical moment in our recent history" (03/11/2020)

| Podemos-Cieza greets with enthusiasm a preliminary project that seeks national reconstruction from solidarity principles | Last Tuesday, before the Council of Ministers that had to approve it, the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Second Vice President and Minister of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, Pablo Iglesias, publicly presented the keys to the draft bill of the General Budgets of the State (PGE) by 2021. It has been a long and difficult road to get there, "but here we are, a political formation emanating from the common people and that has managed not only to gain access to the Government of Spain, but to become a protagonist in it", reminds us Piedad Abellán, the current spokesperson of Podemos-Cieza.

For this reason, he wants to send a message of gratitude first of all "to a group of parliamentarians and politicians, led by Pablo Iglesias, who have always believed in the founding motto of Podemos, who always knew that it was possible and had, in addition, the courage and intelligence to prove it.

" The Budgets that are now being projected for parliamentary debate and that will foreseeably be approved, if all goes well, in January, "are on the way to being the most social in the lifetime of our democracy, and it is remarkable that they are drawn up just when the epidemic of COVID-19 and its health and economic effects place us at the most critical moment in our recent history.

" The preliminary draft of budgets bears the recognizable seal of Podemos, "and until the last day everything has been difficult, although an agreement was finally reached regarding the rental price and the Minimum Living Income, the two main obstacles to the negotiation".

Although there is not 100 percent of the economic program of this training, Piedad Abellán emphasizes that "everything is essential and these budgets open a new political stage in this country, in which neoliberal and austericidal policies are buried to make way for others presided over by the basic principle of human solidarity.

"From this beginning, economic reconstruction will be addressed.

and social that this country needs after the devastation of the pandemic. Although the State Budgets are a complex and technical issue, some figures illustrate Piedad Abellán's statements: "Thus, social spending grows by more than 10%, approaching 250 billion, and contributory pensions will increase the CPI forecast for 2021 , 0.9%, while the non-contributory, much lower on average, will do just twice ".

In this chapter on social spending, "the historical increase in the items earmarked for public health, which grew more than 3 billion euros, and educational scholarships that increased more than 70 percent should be highlighted." In addition, "there are important endowments of funds to promote early childhood education from 0 to 3 years, to improve the care of the elderly, with the aim of moving from the residential model to a more home care,to equalize paternity and maternity leave in 16 fully paid weeks and to strengthen active employment policies ". This ambitious social program is based on a fiscal policy that affects the progressive nature of taxes, "with increases in personal income tax for those incomes that exceed 200,000 euros, with a 1% increase in wealth tax that will affect only assets valued at more than 10 million euros and with a significant limitation of deductions in corporate tax " In conclusion, "we are facing useful budgets for citizens, which will allow the country to move forward, after the pandemic, with a historical public social investment by the State, and which place us on the path of recovery of labor and social rights and strengthening public services - we should be proud.
