The City Council is interested in the drastic reduction of the bus service to Murcia (06/11/2020)

The Councilor for Transport, Francisco Saorín, and the Councilor for Youth, Marta Sánchez, have learned, through a meeting held with young users of the bus service that connect Cieza with the capital of the Region, that the winning company has reduced the number of buses to Murcia and vice versa. In a press release, both councilors have reported that the InterBus company, awarded the bus service that connects Cieza with the Murcian capital, has unilaterally and almost incomprehensibly communicated a drastic reduction in the number of journeys, leaving completely without service to regular users such as the group of young university students.According to Saorín, it is understandable that, as a consequence of the pandemic and for security reasons, the buses comply with all the security measures established to guarantee the smooth running of journeys, "but the reduction of service in the manner carried out is inadmissible.

carried out by the company, not considering this reduction to any study, neither in the number of users, nor in the time slots where buses are most used ".In the same vein, Sánchez has demonstrated, joining the protest by young people over the closure of the Cieza-Murcia bus lines.

"There are many young students who are sending us their complaints about the cut in services of the InterBus company, since they go to universities and have to wait hours to be able to return to their municipality.

Therefore, we support this cause and we are working so that this problem is solved immediately, "said the head of Youth. The concession company has reduced the routes between Cieza and Murcia from Monday to Friday from nine to three; on Saturdays it has gone from five services to none; and on Sundays, from four to one.

"A decision that leaves the collective transport by cart between Cieza and Murcia in a residual situation and that significantly harms many users", Francisco Saorín has denounced. The Councilor for Transportation of the City Council of Cieza, from the moment he has learned of the situation, is trying to contact company officials, without any success, since it does not answer the calls of the mayor, nor does it respond to emails sent.Likewise, Saorín has contacted the General Directorate of Transport of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, has presented the complaints of what happened and has informed that general direction of the facts, giving transfer of the established schedules, arguing that said reduction does not attend according to studied criteria, "since it is easily discernible that a large daytime slot is devoid of service, requesting a prompt response and solution to the problem".Finally, both councilors have warned that many users have been left without service and that they demand the restoration of the previous schedule.
