Social Policy celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (01/12/2020)

Municipal sources of the City Council of Cieza report that December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The celebration of this day seeks to sensitize citizens on issues related to disability and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of people with this condition.

In addition to promoting their inclusion in all areas of life.The Municipal Disability Commission, linked to the Department of Social Policies, whose councilor is Melba Miñano, wants to celebrate this important day despite the difficulties that exist due to the current pandemic situation caused by covid-19, especially when this virus It is causing a devastating social and economic crisis for people with disabilities and families."The group of people with disabilities has increased their situation of defenselessness as a result of the isolation measures decreed and after the closure of occupational, day, social, educational centers (now semi-presential), seeing their support networks diminished and compromising physical and emotional health, and that, thanks to the work of the social entities that provide support for the coverage of many of their needs, they have not been doomed to total isolation, "say the sources."This day is important and, although we have been forced to modify our actions from previous years, which sought, among other issues, the interaction between people with disabilities, the students of the educational centers of Cieza and the population in general, we believe that the activities scheduled for this year will have a similar effect.
