[People from the world of culture in Cieza and the Region support the ciezana Alfaqueque publishing house (20/12/2020)

MANIFEST According to the information that appeared in the media regarding the open dispute between Alfaqueque Ediciones and the Cieza City Council about the similarity between the logo of this publishing house and a figure of the new corporate identity of Siy sa of the City of Cieza , the undersigned, women and men from the world of literature and culture in general, wish to express the following: 1.

That, as can be easily verified by the information disseminated, one of the symbols created for the new corporate image of the museum and Islamic site of Siy sa bears an evident and surprising resemblance to the logo used for 12 years by Alfaqueque Ediciones.

A distinctive conceived from a graphic motif that appears in the arches of the house number 10 of Siy sa, and that was designed in its day by a local artist under the instructions of the publisher. 2.

That the work carried out by this publisher, whose emblem is now in dispute, deserves all our respect and support due to its intense and long history.

A logo, by the way, which, according to its manager, Fernando Fern ndez Villa, was registered in January 2008 in the Industrial Property Registry and in the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), enjoying the both full legal protection. With more than 50 publications behind it and the promotion and organization of numerous literary events, Alfaqueque Ediciones has not only contributed to promoting the world of publishing in our Region but also to energize its life cultural.

Thanks to his effort and tenacity, this editorial is today an inescapable literary reference that any self-respecting public institution must value and respect. 3.

That since the Siy sa logo is "in the process of being patented", as recognized by the Councilor for Heritage, the City Council of Cieza is still in time to rectify and stop using the same graphic motif.

Graphic taken from the house number 10 of Siy sa that Ediciones Alfaqueque Ediciones used for the creation of its logo.

And given the existence of numerous utensils, instruments, objects and bows in the Museum of Siy sa, another reason is used for the new corporate identity. 4.

That we deeply regret that this consistory, which must safeguard the interests of all citizens, has inexplicably responded in this case with silence to the editor's requirements, which on October 2 informed different councilors of the problem raised. Given all of the foregoing, we support and support, considering it fair and reasonable, the request made by the editor Fernando Fern ndez Villa to the City of Cieza. Echoing this demand, we also request that the council, for the sake of cultural activity and respect for current legislation, agree to dialogue and consider the proposal to withdraw the figure in question.

of the new corporate identity of Siy sa.

An emblem so similar to the one patented and used for more than a decade by Alfaqueque Ediciones that it can only serve to create confusion and harm the legal rights of this publisher.
