[Saor n celebrates that the Ministry of Consumption prohibits the "902" in customer service "for abusive" (23/12/2020)

The Councilor for Consumption of the City Council of Cieza, Francisco Saor n, reports that the cost overruns in calls to make inquiries to basic service companies will begin to disappear. According to a statement, "the cost overruns in calls to make inquiries to basic services companies have begun to disappear since yesterday, Tuesday, December 22, after the approval by the Council of Ministers of a Royal Decree- Law that modifies the 'General Law for the Defense of Consumers and Users' to put an end to the '902' as telephones in customer service.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, led by Alberto Garz n, has already He advanced his intentions a few months ago and this Tuesday he ended a practice that they understood as abusive.

" For this reason, the Councilor for Consumption of the City Council of Cieza, Francisco Saor n, has declared that "with this change, the telephone services of companies that provide basic services of general interest will have to have a toll-free number for users to make inquiries without having to pay the extra cost generated by these additional rate lines ". Saor n has specified that it is "a broad panorama of companies among which are those that provide essential supplies such as water, gas or electricity, but also other more specific ones such as financial, insurance, postal, transport, health, sanitation or waste ". Likewise, the mayor stressed that, in addition, "the rest of the companies must always have a fixed mobile phone number for customer service." These are lines that are usually included in the flat rates offered by companies and therefore will not have an extra cost. Saor n recalled that from Alberto Garz n's department "they understood that it was necessary to end these numbers as abusive, but also because they were a barrier to lower incomes." The Councilor for Consumption of the City Council of Cieza has asserted that it is a measure that he considers to be of "social justice" and that it follows in the wake of the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union that in 2017 declared these services illegal when interpreting they should not exceed the price of a standard call. Finally, Saor n recalled that the Ministry of Consumption had already advanced its intentions in September and after the pertinent process of public consultation with the citizens and associations, and has now expressed its intentions in the Council of Ministers .
