[Saor n recalls the new regulations that the DGT has released on January 2 (04/01/2021)

The Traffic Councilor of the City Council of Cieza, Francisco Saor n, reports that an important park of traffic measures, which we have to keep in mind to "start the year on the right foot", started on January 2. In a press release, the Cieza City Council Traffic Councilor, Francisco Saor n, recalls that last November he already reported on the new reforms of the regulations approved by the DGT, although not all of them will enter in force immediately, since some, such as the new speed limits in the city will do so for the next month of May, and others, such as those related to electric scooters and the controversial certificate it may take up to two years.

However, there is an important park of measures whose validity began on January 2, which reminds us to "start the year on the right foot." Saor n, has revealed that one of the star measures is the one related to the mobile phone, which will entail an economic penalty of 500 euros and the withdrawal of 6 points (before they were 3 points); a sanction that will not only apply to those who are driving and talking on the cell phone, but also to those who are using it in any other way or even holding it with their hand for any reason. In the same way, driving without using the safety elements such as the helmet, the belt or the child restraint devices, will entail a sanction that will entail a 4-point detraction, in instead of the current 3 points, maintaining the economic amount of 200 euros.

In addition, it is also clearly and univocally stated that misuse of them is equivalent to the same sanction, such as wearing the helmet without fastening or the diagonal band of the belt behind the back, and even an SRI not adapted to the characteristics of the minor by weight and height. Coupled with the above, the mere fact of carrying a radar detector in the car will be sanctioned with 200 euros and the loss of 3 points.

Until now, only drivers who "carried them on" were fined. On the other hand, the Traffic Councilor recalls that the margin of 20 km / h that until now could be exceeded the speed limit on conventional two-way roads to overtake will be abolished, something that is necessary to match our European neighbors. Also, article 38 of the General Traffic Regulations has been modified, which affects personal mobility devices, being as follows: "It is forbidden to circulate on crossings, interurban roads and highways and highways that pass within the town with personal mobility vehicles.

Likewise, the circulation of these vehicles in urban tunnels is prohibited.

" Finally, Saor n has emphasized the need to comply with traffic regulations, not only to avoid being penalized but above all to avoid accidents while safeguarding the safety of drivers and pedestrians.
