[The Sports and Education councils launch the "Cooperative Challenges" program (25/01/2021)

The Department of Sports and Education of the City Council of Cieza, taking into account the inconveniences derived from the terrible pandemic, which has caused the suspension of the CARM School-Age Sports Program, are preparing to launch a program of cooperative challenges motivators, where schools, institutes, special education colleges and disability centers will participate, without leaving their respective centers. The students, in small mixed cooperative groups, will have to overcome a series of challenges developed by municipal sports technicians aimed at improving motor skills and where, on occasion, they will have to combine physical and mental aspects to overcome them.

These challenges will be sent online to the different centers. "Obviously, these challenges that we are going to pose will comply with all the security measures established by the different health authorities, so they will be carried out without any type of contact between the different students," they indicate from the City Council. This program consists of four challenges carried out in 17 weeks, in which each school can participate with each of its classes, divided into cooperative groups.

Each challenge consists of four different tests in which the students will participate in groups of 4-6 students. "One of the objectives that we set ourselves through this program is to avoid competition, which in our opinion is not necessary at these ages, motivating the students to participate in this program through teamwork and the spirit of improvement to try to carry out each of the challenges.

Therefore, we are going to reward all those centers that participate and carry out the different challenges ". In the words of the Councilor for Sports, Carlos Semitiel, "after the suspension of the School-Age Sports Program by the Autonomous Community, we had the duty to carry out a program of healthy physical activity where all local centers could participate.

Obviously, it is a program that has been adapted to all health measures.

An innovative program adapted to recent times, which this year will replace that of the Autonomous Community, but which has come to complement it in the coming years.

" In turn, the Councilor for Education, María Ramos, points out that "the student body is experiencing times of great stress and these cooperative challenges are a way to alleviate that tension.

With this project we pursue several objectives, among which we highlight the practice of sport, fun, team play and fostering ingenuity.

In difficult times you have to reinvent yourself and that is what we wanted to achieve with this project, a new way of promoting physical activity, adapting to the circumstances ".
