A hundred specialists effective firefighting and two helicopters are involved today in Cieza Community in practical exercises related to forest fire, in order to further deepen the improvement of this device against possible losses in the places Community natural.
This initiative responds to the efforts of the Ministry of Presidency for responding to forest fire emergencies in the geography of the region of Murcia, with over 500,000 hectares of forest area exceptionally rich flora and over 2,000 species present, through Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fire Emergency in the Region of Murcia (Infomur Plan).
Exercise, included in the 2013 training plan aimed at Units Forest Fire in the Region of Murcia (UDIF), has been to simulate a major forest fire in the place of the Hill of the Horn, where different services have narrowed and coordinated suppression techniques included in the protocols used in an emergency of this nature.
During the course of the year, the forest brigade ground staff has done a hose lying 250 meters towards the affected vegetation to start an indirect attack maneuver by two units in parallel with light machinery and other direct attack, in which several troops have intervened with extinguishing and Batefuegos backpacks, supported by a fire truck.
In addition, each unit of which is composed of the performance group, composed of a forest of Defense Firefighting Brigade, rapid intervention brigade and a brigade helicopter transport, has made a move to protect themselves.
The exercise was led by a technician Unit Forest Fire in the Region of Murcia (UDIF), who pointed out the itinerary for each group and set the pace of work and the details of it.
Human and material resources
In the exercise, have acted extinction 75 specialists from nine Forest Defense Brigades Firefighting (Brifor) of the municipalities of Mula, Blanca, Jumilla, Calasparra, El Valle, Cieza, Ricote, Yecla and Cartagena and two Rapid Intervention Brigade Cieza and El Valle, five technicians with extinction, two operators of the Mobile Unit 15 Meteorology and Transmissions and environmental agents.
When operating two helicopters have joined the Sewer and La Pila, with their respective brigades helicopter transport, three forest fire engines, five extinction light vehicles and 20 light goods vehicles.
The Cabeza de la Viga (Cehegín) will tomorrow stage other staff practical exercise terrestrial forest brigades, in which 60 specialists act of extinction, eight environmental agents, extinguishing two technicians and two operators of the Mobile Unit of Meteorology and Transmissions.
