They want Cieza "free town of evictions" declaration (26/11/2014)

will be discussed in plenary December |

There are already many municipalities, Cieza and the rest of the country, which have passed motions to declare their "free evictions" municipalities.

With them, explains Councillor proponent, José Eduardo Illueca, "not only aims to make a solemn declaration or statement of intent, but to provide guidance for political leadership and government action on this important social issue"

The request includes a citizens claim "that becomes clamor everywhere, and is based on the right of every human being to have decent housing, a right recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international as well as in the Spanish Constitution of 1978 texts, Article 47 provides that all Spaniards are entitled to enjoy decent and adequate housing. "

The Constitution sets the right to housing as a guiding principle of social and economic policy, "so that your content requires positive action by all public authorities with competence in the field, including local government, local councils, as closer to the citizens Directors have a duty to intervene in the framework of its powers, of the worrying situation of helplessness in which there are thousands of families, suffocated by unemployment and a mortgage crisis, from which they are not responsible, they have become unaffordable. "

What is sought with the motion to be debated at the next plenary December is that the City of Cieza publicly declared "Town Free Evictions, and that for this solemn declaration is not left in a sentence, no material reality that translated, a series of compromises that have to guide municipal policy on this important social issue in the short and medium term "adoption.

The list of possibilities is very extensive, and as indicated in this council, "is open to contributions until the last moment."

Among the measures outlined in the proposal, are, for example, "municipal intervention to ensure supplies of water, electricity and gas for all families, the development of a Municipal Housing Plan, the creation of a park homes for social rent scheme to rehouse evicted people and families, the implementation of a register of people affected ".

Also, "we propose that the City of Cieza actively opposes any eviction from home you are living under, the protocols of social services are reviewed in eviction cases and requested the court to suspend the eviction when it is for economic reasons and concerns the unique and usual residence of the mortgagor ".

One aspect that proponents consider very important is that "the City of Cieza will question the financial institutions operating in the town to demand the suspension of evictions and debt relief that are illegal according to the Court of Justice of the EU measures applying pressure within the legal order as possible ".

It is also requested in the motion that "the City of Cieza prevent the evicted families continue to receive those charges to property tax, and does not work with any of its resources, including local police, launch procedures".
